Café staffed by people with Down’s Syndrome launches in leeds after successful trial

A café staffed by people with Down’s syndrome in Headingley, Leeds is now running, after a successful trial period in March 2018.

Café 21 opened on 12.01.2019 and was created by the charity Sunshine & Smiles in a bid to help young people with the genetic condition get work experience and training that will boost their career prospects.

National statistics reveal that just 17% of all adults with a learning disability are in paid employment.
