#The Alzheimer’s Society says that people with dementia are forced to pay a “premium” on top of standard care fees even if they do not need additional support.
Providers can add as much as 40% to the bill, the Alzheimer’s Society found.
The charity says that the typical total cost of care for a person with dementia is £100,000 but for many it can be much higher. About 850,000 people in the UK have dementia.
Ed. This is awful. Of course some conditions require a greater level of care, but a 40% price rise seems excessive.
