03 October 2018 – NHS Confederation
Responding to Matt Hancock’s speech at the Conservative Party conference, Matthew Winn, chair of the Community Network, which has been established by the NHS Confederation and NHS Providers, said:
“The commitment made today by the health and social care secretary for more investment in the services which bring care closer to people’s homes and communities is very welcome.
“A recent report by the Institute of Fiscal Studies and Health Foundation set out that without shifting care away from hospitals and closer to people’s homes, it is likely we will need to double acute hospital provision over the next 15 years to meet growing demand. This is clearly unsustainable.
“The NHS ten-year plan must provide the opportunity to turn this important vision for good quality care in the community into a much-needed reality.”
