The Northumberland, Tyne and Wear NHS Trust once again been labelled as “outstanding” following an inspection by health watchdogs.
England’s chief inspector of hospitals praised the Trust as “excellent” after its glowing report from CQC.
Inspectors were particularly impressed by a “social inclusion programme” that aimed to help “reduce the
stigma around mental health” by having patients helping with Sunderland’s 2018 Tall Ships Race.
The Trust is one of the largest mental health and disability trusts in England employing more than 6,000 staff, serving a population of approximately 1.4 million.
