NHS admits ambulance delays linked to deaths of 123 patients – and says actual figure ‘could be higher’

The NHS has admitted that 123 patients have died in incidents where ambulances failed to meet response times, during a four year period. Some deaths were related to queues on arrival at A&E departments.

Officials say that the full death list may be higher because some have not been reported.
