Chun Ooi defrauded the NHS out of £55,000 by working dozens of locum shifts. Mr Ooi, 32, a Malaysian national, started working in February 2016 and was given a two-year clinical and research fellowship based in Cardiff, Wales.

But he failed to undertake research and worked more than 100 hours of locum shifts instead.

A court ordered him to pay £55,785.83 in compensation to the health board.
