Charity boss sacked after care home closure goes to tribunal

The home was closed after a number of bad inspections and Chief Executive, Barbara Duffy was sacked for gross misconduct.

Barbara Duffy was fired by Plymouth Age Concern in Devember 2016 after being accused of gross misconduct following a string of damning inspections which led to the closure of Patricia Venton House, Mount Gould, Plymouth. She has now launched a claim of unfair dismissal.

Terry Falcao, cross examining Mrs Duffy for Plymouth Age Concern, said a poor CQC report in 2015 was followed by an even worse one in 2016.
